Marching in the 4th of July Parade

Yes, we did it. Marched in Brattleboro's 4th of July parade. Our first assault on the macadam since the early 1980's and under former library director Meris Morrison's reign. (Meris came out of retirement to run the Moore Free Library in Newfane several years ago.)

The weather was perfect for the festivities and assistant children's librarian Lindsay Bellville, her husband Jim, library employees, Debby Tewksburyand her grandson, Marybeth Fleming and son Sam, Deb Schiller and daughter Maggie, Marg Guthrie and grandchildren, library trustee Elizabeth Tannenbaum and husband Peter Falion, and library volunteers Amelia, Miriam and Cailey, and my wife Kathy, all marched from the BUHS parking lot to the commons among the cheers of library supporters watching us. We handed out bookmarks, which we ran out of, and summer reading program flyers. We may need to have afternoon matinees next week to accommodate the crowds.
Check out our photos on Flickr. Next year we are planning a float, more bookmarks, and music. Come and join us in 2008.
